Artisan Boulangerie Co. at Great World City. |
Artisan Boulangerie Co. (“ABC”) is a contemporary bakery with French
influences. Led by award-winning artisan baker, Eran Mayer, they employ
traditional techniques to bring a wide variety of breads, pastries,
morning goodies and snacks to passionate fans every day.
They focus on quality, creativity and consistency. Their
products are produced using artisanal techniques with the highest
quality natural ingredients. Beginning with the flour that they import
directly from a traditional flour mill outside Paris, all ingredients
are carefully selected and sourced from the best farms worldwide.
Freshly baked loaves and pastries are
turned out in batches in the kitchen of Artisan Boulangerie Co, or what
its executive chef Eran Mayer calls a "magical place". These range from baguettes and sourdough loaves to croissants and pies. Prices range from $2 to $10. With
more than 20 years of baking experience, he gave up his bakery business
in Paris to come to Singapore for a "new challenge".
I had a temporary appointment nearby for the whole of the week and was able to drop by for a tasting since the bakery is located at Great World City. I was pretty impressed with the sesame pave and croissant which I bought for home. The croissant returned to its delicious state with a bit of microwaving-cum-toasting: crispy outside, warm and soft inside. The pave was equally wonderful: the nutty, toasty sesame coated crust was deliciously melded with the soft moist bread inside. Absolutely divine.
I ordered a roasted chicken baguette sandwich as I sketched the place. I can't say I am a fan of baguettes in general, which tends to be dry and is often abrasive to the roof of my mouth. It was the same with this one. The chicken breast meat used for the sandwich did not help to alleviate situation. Perhaps, they could try using thigh meat instead, which would aid in the moist texture of the sandwich.
